Pimp-my-tractor: Tietjen sponsors air brake system for profi competition
In this year's competition, the agricultural technology magazine profi once again gave away retrofits for youngtimers. Tietjen is supporting the project and is installing an air brake system on a John Deere 6430 Premium.
At the beginning of the year, more than 200 profi readers submitted applications to modernise their vehicles, which had to be at least 15 years old. In addition to a steering system from FJ Dynamics and a front loader from Stoll, the magazine also gave away an air brake system from Tietjen. All of the retrofits were accompanied by a profi camera team. The video is available on YouTube and the editorial contributions are published in profi magazine and newsletter.
John Deere 6430 Premium gets the air brake system
The tractor of the winner Nick Bode from Gifhorn, is a John Deere 6430 Premium, built in 2008. The vehicle is mainly used for grassland work such as mowing, turning, swathing and harrowing and will be used to tow trailers with compressed air brakes for transporting bales, which is why Bode took part in the competition for the compressed air braking system. The tractor is also equipped with an air gun, which Bode can use to clean the vehicle and inflate the tyres.

Installing an air brake system on a tractor is challenging, as numerous additional components supplement the existing design, e.g. the air compressor with various pipes in the engine compartment and an air reservoir under the wheel arch. The profi film team captured every installation step on camera. The video shows very clearly that the assembly work is extensive but uncomplicated thanks to the pre-assembled modules and colour-coded plug connectors.
The air brake system kit includes various assemblies consisting of purchased parts and components manufactured in our own metalworking shop, e.g. the compressor bracket and various holders for coupling heads, air reservoirs and trailer control valves. CNC milling and turning machines as well as a CNC tube bending machine quickly and precisely produce a wide variety of components for the respective vehicle type.
