Our Success Story began more than 25 years ago
This was the time when pneumatic brakes became mandatory for tractors and trailers. There clearly was a market for pneumatic brakes but the proper products were still elusive.
Graduate engineer Jürgen Tietjen recognized the opportunity and came up with a brilliant solution. He introduced a kit to retrofit pneumatic brakes for tractors and trailers. The word spread quickly: Tietjen was able to extend the useful life of older agricultural machines. The Tietjen Company was on its way. Tietjen products became known in Germany, Europe and everywhere else in the world.
Today, customers can select from more than 5,000 Tietjen retrofit kits for virtually every model made by major tractor and trailer manufacturers. We offer the right product for every special purpose machine or vehicle.
Air Brake Systems are our Core Business
Our specialists develop and produce pneumatic brake systems for vehicles and machines used in agriculture, construction and engineering. This includes both original parts and retrofit sets. Meanwhile, original equipment makes up two thirds of our sales.
Providing replacement parts for our retrofit kits and brake sets is another thriving part of our business and so is the distribution of components, which Tietjen newly develops and pre-assembles.

Tietjen provides the proper pneumatic brake systems for many well-known construction and agricultural vehicle manufacturers. In some cases, we feed our brake systems directly into the production lines of these manufacturers.
We particularly value our close collaboration with the distributors of agricultural machinery and the machine shops servicing these machines. They are powerful multipliers for the sale of new brake systems and the replacement of wearing parts in the Tietjen pneumatic brake retrofit kits.
